Help:Images
From Chelsea Wiki
- Before even bringing an image to this page format it correctly, and name it properly! We don't want loads of images on here called DCS00121a.jpg, that'll be absolutely no use to anyone, least of all you when you try to remember what image was what. Better would be something like InstallationShot1Oct04.jpg don't use spaces.
- Next, make sure its the right size. People don't like to scroll over images, make your image fit on a screen. In Photoshop make sure it isn't taller than about 500px, and no wider than something like 800px. This'll ensure it looks good on your pages. No one likes ugly pages.
- Once you've resized and renamed your file you're ready to bring it to the wiki.
- To get an image in wiki you've first got to upload it. To do this you have to follow a special page, which is Special:Upload.
- From that page locate the image on your hard drive and then give it a description, agree to the copyright info and then upload it.
- Any page can now display this image with [[Image:InstallationShot1Oct04.jpg]] if that's what is was called, alternatively a thumb can be displayed on a page with [[Image:InstallationShot1Oct04.jpg|thumb]]
Any questions, please add them below on this page, someone will answer you quickly. Contact Ian for a handout for further information on uploading an image.
- Help someone! I followed the above steps and a have a box with a little red cross in it. You can see where I went wrong (I hope) by looking in the history. Thanks, A x --Abby 05:14, 17 Nov 2004 (EST)
- Abby, you have to make sure you get the filename exactly right, including the case, it's really picky. With your file name it was .JPG and not .jpg, I changed the case and it worked! Hope that's cool
- Cheers, Ian (I'm guessing it was you)! Case sensitive programmes are so annoying!--Abby 06:52, 19 Nov 2004 (EST)
